Macy’s announced on Wednesday the appointment of Jason Holzman to the role of senior vice president of creative and production.
In the role, which looks to advance how Macy’s engages with customers and the public via storytelling and campaigns, Holzman will oversee the creative (design and copy), photo studio and marketing operations teams. He will report to Sharon Otterman, chief marketing officer, at the department store chain.
Holzman joins Macy’s from NBCUniversal, where he held the role of senior vice president and head of creative for Peacock.
He also led teams at NBCU responsible for the creative marketing of linear networks including USA and SYFY, as well as UCP, one of the company’s content production studios. Holzman has also served as an adjunct professor at the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT), where he taught advertising.
Prior to his nearly seventeen-year tenure at NBCUniversal, Holzman served as creative director at Euro RSCG. He also held creative roles at BBDO and Ammirati & Puris, and recently co-authored a graphic novel to be published by Humanoids, the multi-national publishing house.
“Jason brings a wealth of creative experience from consumer advertising, as well as the media and entertainment industries, and has a proven track record of innovative storytelling,” said Otterman.
“Macy’s has a rich history of celebrating moments big and small, and we’ve added a strong storyteller to continue to tell our story. I’m excited for us to continue adding talented creative professionals to our world-class marketing organization.”
This strategic move comes on the heels of the U.S. company’s Summer’s Greatest Hits Campaign and the launch of Mode of One, a new contemporary menswear brand that is part of the brand’s ongoing private brand reinvention.
