Macy’s, Inc. announced on Monday that Michael Krans has joined the U.S. retailer as vice president, Macy’s Media Network.
In this role, Krans oversees the New York-based company’s in-house media publisher dedicated to connecting advertising partners with Macy’s and Bloomingdale’s customers.
Upclose, Macy’s Media Network appeases the firm’s customer base with personalized, inspiring content and through strategies fueled by cross category insights, building customized media plans that drive brand storytelling and business priorities.
With experience leading sales and marketing teams focused on digital media, e-commerce and publishing, Krans joins Macy’s following his most recent role leading the fashion team at Walmart Connect, where he partnered across the enterprise to drive accelerated revenue growth with the company’s biggest apparel suppliers.
He previously worked at major publishers including Hearst and Condé Nast overseeing revenue growth, advertising, and marketing initiatives with an emphasis on retail, home, beauty, and fashion campaigns.
In his new role at Macy’s, Krans will report to Max Magni, chief customer and digital officer, Macy’s.
“We’re excited to welcome Michael to Macy’s, Inc. He takes the reins of our growing retail media network bringing with him more than two decades of sales and marketing experience,” said Magni.
“Macy’s Media Network is one of retail’s premier platforms for advertisers helping them to connect with highly engaged customers across Macy’s and Bloomingdale’s, giving marketers a host of opportunities to more effectively leverage their media campaigns.”
The appointment comes just weeks after Macy’s said it plans to close 150 unproductive locations, as the department-store chain seeks to fight off a pair of activist firms seeking to buy the company.
