Madhappy opens first store in Los Angeles

Madhappy, the brand founded in 2017 by founders Joshua Sitt, Noah Raf, Peiman Raf, and Mason Spector on the values of positivism and optimism, has just opened its first boutique in Los Angeles, at 8906 Melrose Avenue in West Hollywood.

Already present a few years ago at Melrose Place, Madhappy now joins the Melrose Avenue section where James Perse and Maxfield are located.

The 2,800-square-foot space was designed with Los Angeles-based creative studio PlayLab, Inc. which regularly collaborates for fashion brands such as Marc Jacobs and Rimowa.

“The flagship is more than a place of transaction, but a space where customers can spend a few hours, rather than browse a few seconds,” said PlayLab’s team, in a statement.

Conceptual and minimal, the store presents the Madhappy collections in a chromatic universe dominated by blue, which covers the entire floor, punctuated with contemporary furnitures and carved in stone bench. The space also includes a multimedia room intended to present the audiovisual works of artists, like the electronic artist, Khotin, an open-air courtyard planted with a tree and a café called ‘Pantry by Madhappy’.

Open to the public, the café space serves coffee, tea, pastries in partnership with coffee brand Hotel Drugs and collaborates with the most popular food and grocery brands in Los Angeles, as well as Courage Bagels, Gjusta, Jon & Vinny’s, Beverly Hills Juice and Awan.

For the new store, Madhappy is featuring exclusive special capsules and accessories. Some of those include custom bags from Pacific Tote Company, an incense pack and burner created with Kuumba International featuring a bespoke Madhappy scent, and Madhappy for Los Angeles Dodgers ’47 Clean Up featured across four colorways.

“It’s been amazing to take our time with this, our first flagship, to really obsess over every detail in collaboration with PlayLab,” Spector said in a statement. “We’ve made a huge effort to think through every inch of the space.”

After launching more than twenty pop-up stores across the United States, from New York to Miami, Aspen and Los Angeles, the Madhappy brand is reaching a new milestone in its development. Supported by the LVMH group, which invested $1.8 million in 2019, the brand, which wishes to spread a message of optimism to its customers, should continue with other openings in the coming months.

On the racks, Madhappy presents an assortment of T-shirts, sweatshirts, sweatpants, sweaters, jackets, puffer vests, scarves, baseball caps and socks, most of them manufactured in Los Angeles. The collaboration between Ugg and Madhappy footwear collection is also available.

In addition to its products, Madhappy also founded The Madhappy Foundation, a non-profit organization, with a mission to improve mental health globally. Through the foundation, 1% of the brand’s proceeds from every sale benefit efforts to raise awareness, fund research, and positively impact the mental health movement. Last August, Madhappy also launched a print magazine called Local Optimist, that focuses on mental health awareness, wellness, and art.
