Mall Security Guard Fired After Driving Recklessly At A Rooftop Parking Garage Sideshow

A mall security guard is out of a job today after being stupid. Footage shows a security guard in Torrance, California trying to put on his own sideshow on the roof of mall parking garage.

KTLA reports the incident happened at the Del Amo Fashion Center. A video posted to the Instagram account South Bay Responders shows the security guard driving recklessly on the top floor of the mall’s parking garage around 11:30 pm on August 10th. In the video, he’s showing off for a group of onlookers who are cheering him on, and it also shows someone else is inside the car while he’s doing it.

Compounding how dumb the situation is, he’s doing all of this in a Ford Escape, not the ideal vehicle for this. The last part of the video appears to show someone driving a different vehicle up a flight of stairs at the mall. Because of the video, the security guard lost his job. In a statement to KTLA, Allied Universal Security, who has a security contract with the Del Amo Fashion Center, said the man is no longer employed with them and he may even lose his driver’s license.

The behavior in the video is in direct violation of company policy and wholly inconsistent with what we expect from our team members. As a result, the security professional is being terminated immediately and reported to California’s licensing agency.

This isn’t the first instance of stupidity at the Del Amo Fashion Center. Earlier this year, a large number of local police and private security gathered at the mall thwarted a planned takeover and large mob gathering. In December 2023, a mass smash and grab involving thousands of teens was planned. Authorities say over 1,000 teens showed up before police dispersed them.
