Italian leather goods brand Mandarina Duck, owned by Korean group E-Land, confirmed its growth trajectory in H1 2024, promoting the ‘Eco-Coated’ line with a series of ad hoc events.
In H1, Mandarina Duck’s best-performing markets where Spain, where revenue grew by 55% year-on-year, Italy (up by 18%), Austria (up by 15%), and especially Russia (up by 133%) and Greece (up by 33%).
“Our main markets wholesale-wise are Italy (which accounts for 45% of revenue), Germany (with 20% of revenue), Austria (10% of revenue) and Spain (5% of revenue)”, a Mandarina Duck spokesperson told FashionNetwork.com. The brand is currently serving 600 retailers via the wholesale channel. “The number of doors is the same as nine months ago, because we have improved our network’s quality by ceasing to collaborate with multibrand retailers that weren’t suitable in terms of positioning and reliability, and replacing them with new partners more consistent with the company’s commercial strategy,” said the spokesperson.
E-tail sales grew by 20% year-on-year in H1. “We’re currently delivering to over 30 countries, and by the end of the year we’re set to launch our new site, mandarinaduck.com [initially planned for July, and now almost ready to go], with wholly upgraded layout and functionalities, so as to offer a more efficient service and assess new market opportunities,” said the company.
Among the countries Mandarina Duck is keen to turn its attention to next year are China, South America and Eastern Europe. The brand is also evaluating potential monobrand store openings in 2025.
Meanwhile, after taking part in events in Verona and Berlin, Mandarina Duck’s Eco-Coated line featured in Rome as the official partner of the 2024 edition of sport and wellbeing promotion event Tennis&Friends. The Eco-Coated line is Mandarina Duck’s most innovative collection for Fall/Winter 2024-25. It features bold contemporary products from all the brand’s categories and for all genders, 100% made in recycled polyester sourced from used PET plastic bottles that have been collected and processed.
The products are coated with a durable, water-repellent fabric and are available in two colourways (black and yellow-black) with the Mandarina Duck logo printed in contrasting colour. The collection consists of city backpacks, travel rucksacks, duffel bags in various sizes, and small cross-body bags. It is part of the ‘Eco Duck’ project, through which Mandarina Duck has pledged to use recycled materials to manufacture its products in a more responsible and sustainable way.
