Marc Jacobs has teamed up with graffiti artist Futura to drop a special-edition capsule collection celebrating the American fashion brand’s 40th anniversary.
This marks the eighth drop in a year-long series where friends and collaborators of the brand reimagine their favorite Marc Jacobs designs.
The collection launches with a global campaign featuring superstar J Balvin, model Paloma Elsesser, and Futura himself, showcasing the artist’s reinterpretation of iconic Marc Jacobs pieces like The Tote Bag, The Snapshot, unisex denim, hoodies, and other ready-to-wear items and accessories. The campaign is photographed by Renell Medrano and styled by Milton Dixon III.
Futura, a pioneer of New York’s 1980s “Subway School” of graffiti, first collaborated with Marc Jacobs in 2022 on a project benefitting Free Arts NYC, a non-profit that empowers underserved youth through art. The duo, both NYC natives, share a deep connection to art, creative expression, and the downtown New York spirit.
Coinciding with the launch, along with pop-up locations in New York, London, Beijing, and Japan throughout September, the Bronx Museum will debut Futura 2000: Breaking Out, the largest exhibition of Futura’s work ever showcased in New York City, on September 8.
