Maruti: Top 10 best-selling cars and SUVs in October’23: Maruti WagonR to Hyundai Creta

October 2023 was a record month for many automotive manufacturers. Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai, Tata, Mahindra and many others recorded the highest-ever monthly sales. Maruti Suzuki India has six models in the 10 best-selling carswith Tata Motors having two with Nexon being the highest selling SUV. The Indian automotive industry witnessed the highest-ever monthly sales of the PV segment at 391,472 units in October 2023 with growth of 16.3% year-on-year (y-o-y) over 336,679 units sold in October 2022.In this article let’s take a look at the top 10 best-selling cars and SUVs in October 2023.
The first car on the list is the Maruti Suzuki WagonR. Maruti Suzuki India sold a total of 22,080 units in October. The WagonR gets two engine options – a 1.0-litre NA petrol and a 1.2-litre NA Petrol. It was followed by the Maruti Suzuki Swift at 20,598 units. The Swift is powered by a 1.2-litre NA Petrol engine paired with a 5-speed manual or an AMT automatic.

Next comes the newly launched Tata Nexon at 16,887 units sold in October 2023. The Nexon is the top-selling SUV in Oct’23 and it gets two engine options – a 1.2-litre turbo petrol and a 1.5-litre turbo diesel. The fourth model on the list is Maruti Baleno with 16,594 units, the Baleno is powered by a 1.2-litre NA Petrol engine paired with a 5-speed manual or an AMT automatic. The fifth model on the list is the Maruti Brezza with 16,050 units, the Brezza is powered by a 1.5-litre NA Petrol engine paired with a 5-speed manual or 6-speed automatic.

Another Tata model on the list is Tata Punch with 15,317 units in October. The Punch is powered by a 1.2-litre NA Petrol paired with a 5-speed manual or an AMT. The only sedan on the list is Maruti Suzuki Dzire with 14,699 units, the Dzire is powered by a 1.2-litre NA Petrol paired with a 5-speed manual or an AMT.

The eighth model on the list is Maruti Suzuki Ertiga with 14,209 units, Ertiga gets a 1.5-litre NA Petrol engine paired with a 5-speed manual or an automatic transmission. Surprisingly, the Mahindra Scorpio was ahead of the Hyundai Creta. Ninth place goes to Mahindra Scorpio-N and Classic, Mahindra & Mahindra sold a total of 13,578 units in October 2023. Last on the list is the Hyundai Creta with 13,077 units, the Creta gets two engine options – a 1.5-litre NA Petrol or a 1.5-litre turbo diesel.
