For many Marilyn Monroe was the world’s most beautiful icon. She was famous for her stunning looks and curves that captivated fans around the globe.
So it’s perhaps little wonder that even after so many years after her passing in 1962 that details of her life are still pored over.
A new video on social media platform TikTok has now revealed what the silver screen goddess used to eat to keep her famous figure so trim.
TikToker @mindofmarisa shared the clip which detailed Marilyn’s diet on her account which has 3.9million likes.
She said: “This was Marilyn Monroe’s bizarre diet. Marilyn Monroe is regarded as one of the most recognizable stars in the world and thanks to a 1952 interview with Pageant magazine we know what she liked to eat.
“Surprisingly she was a huge fan of raw eggs in the morning.
“In the interview Marilyn says ‘I’ve been told that my eating habits are absolutely bizarre, but I don’t think so’.”
The movie star explained in the interview that before her morning shower she warms a cup of milk that she breaks two raw eggs into before whipping them up with a fork. She also would then take a multivitamin pill.
Marilyn went on to tell the publication that for dinner she would stop by the market to pick up a steak, lamb chops or liver which she would “broil” alongside “four or five raw carrots”.
Dessert for Marilyn was more run of the mill, however, as she was a fan of hot fudge sundaes.
But rather than people being confused about her daily food intake, in the comments section people felt it must have added to her renowned beauty.
“I think she was smart,” said one. “Whatever she ate she looked amazing – clear skin and bright eyes,” said another.
Another fan added: “My great grandmother would eat a raw egg every morning and never got sick until she died of old age at 90.”
Marilyn starred in several films such as Some Like It Hot, Gentlemen Prefer Blondes and The Seven Year Itch and was integral to the sexual revolution of the 1950s and early 1960s.
Marilyn’s birth name was Norma Jeane Mortenson and she married three times before her untimely death – to Arthur Miller, Jo DiMaggio and James Doherty.
She died aged just 36, with the cause of death being acute barbiturate poisoning.
