There’s a new creative chief at the helm of Italian luxury label Tod’s with the company announcing on Friday that Matteo Tamburini has been appointed Creative Director of the women’s and men’s collections for the brand.
The first collection he’ll oversee will be the Tod’s AW24/25 offer, which will be shown during Milan Fashion Week in February.
Diego Della Valle, President and CEO of Tod’s Group, called him “a talented creative” and said that his “modern vision of high quality and Italian lifestyle will definitely bring an added value to our brand. Tamburini will develop a creative team of highly skilled people with an in-depth understanding of the luxury world”.
And Tamburini added that the brand “is so closely tied to my origins and memories. I identify myself with the brand’s values and the continuous pursuit of high quality and style it has undertaken until now, and I look forward to contributing with my expertise.”
The 40-year-old has wide experience in the European luxury sector having worked at Rochas, Schiaparelli, Emilio Pucci and Bottega Veneta (since 2017), most recently being responsible for the design of its ready-to-wear collections.
The brand’s previous creative chief Walter Chiapponi left this summer and took up the same role at Blumarine early last month.
Last month too, Tod’s Group reported that its sales rose by 14.3% in the first nine months of the year, thanks to strong sales in Europe that countered a slowdown in China in Q3.
The company also said that all of its brands had seen double-digit sales growth, with good demand both from domestic shoppers and tourists.
