New York: In a devastating news, Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) president Amol Kale succumbed to cardiac arrest after watching the Indian vs Pakistan marquee clash in the T20 World Cup 2024, according to reports. Kale was present at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium with MCA secretary Ajinkya Naik and apex council member Suraj Samat on Sunday.

Kale became the MCA president after he defeated India’s 1983 World Cup champion Sandip Patil in elections in 2022. Being at the helm of MCA, Kale was also the co-promoter of Indian Street Premier League that was launched last year. He was also instrumental in doubling Mumbai senior team’s match fees for the forthcoming season.

Although he hails from Nagpur, Kale has been a Mumbai resident for over a decade and was believed to be close Maharashtra’s deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis. During his stay as the MCA president, the Wankhede Stadium successfully hosted the 2023 ODI World Cup matches including the India vs New Zealand semifinal. However, nothing official has come from either MCA or Kale’s family.
