Ritika Pal, a young girl from Delhi, had to brave financial woes, compelling her to hawk her mom’s ornaments to afford critical books for her NEET exam preparation. And lo and behold, Ritika came through with the test with flying colors.
The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET), notorious for its toughness, was surmounted by Ritika, highlighting her indomitable spirit and fortitude. Even amid financially troubling times in her household and the painful demise of her grandma, her eyes kept shining with the dream of being a cancer expert. For her, clearing the NEET exam was an irreplaceable stepping stone to her doctorate endeavors.
Growing up under financial hardships, Ritika Pal clung on to her high-reaching dreams. The sad loss of her maternal grandmother sparked her desire to be a cancer specialist someday, with a starting point revolving around passing the demanding NEET exam to kick-start her pursuit towards a medical degree.
Ritika’s dreams were lofty indeed
Ritika’s dreams were lofty indeed, but the path was tough. Her family was tangled in the hardships of economic difficulty, with her father bringing in a scanty income from his job at an embroidery factory, while her mother took over the reins of managing the home.
Ritika’s family was financially strapped, struggling to find the means for a well-grounded private NEET coaching course in Delhi. They inhabit a modest two-bedroom flat in Molarband, a corner of East Delhi, accommodating five family members. Her educational path towards acing the NEET exam was seriously thrown off balance due to the distress caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.

The fee for tuition or coaching was out of the question for her family, and they even lacked the luxury of owning a smartphone to get into online classes.
Ritika effectively used her received financial grants to buy vital biology textbooks, supplementing her study with YouTube videos and free online lessons to prepare for the NEET exam. Her hard work bore fruit when she scored an impressive 98 percent in her Class 12 exams, and then, marvelously, passed the NEET entrance exam by bagging 500 out of 720 marks. With her All India Rank (AIR) at 3032, she brought her parents’ dream to life – their daughter as a doctor.
