A good track record of education is not a guarantee of success in a student’s life. There are many people in society who have set an example for others by breaking this myth. Today, we will tell you how a below average student cracked the prestigious examination of the Union Public Service Commission and became a bright IAS officer.

The interesting side of this officer is that he did not hide his failures. He revealed it all on social media which is an inspiration for lakhs of UPSC aspirants who want to hold an administrative position in their career.

Awanish Sharan, an IAS officer of Chhattisgarh cadre, was not a good student. He scored only 44.7% marks in high school examinations. He improved his marks in Secondary examination and graduation and scored 65 and 60 percent marks respectively.

Sharan put his records on Twitter that apprised that he appeared in CDS and CPF examinations but failed to clear it. He appeared for state public service commission examinations for ten times but did not pass the prelims examination. Then he gave a thought for the Union Public Service Commission and did it with all seriousness.

His hard work reflected in results when he cleared prelims and mains examination and appeared in the interview in his first attempt. And, in second attempt, he secured All India Rank 77 in the 2009 examination.

Sharan had a very humble backdrop. He said in an interview that numbers in examinations do not guarantee success. He says success has nothing to do with mark sheets or numbers.

Of late, he spoke against study vlogs that claim that 18 hours of study is essential to crack the civil services examination. He urged aspirants to take rest between studies as they are not a machine.
