IAS Success Story: Clearing the Union Public Service Commission(UPSC) Civil Services examination is indeed a tough challenge. As exam season approaches, many inspiring stories of perseverance and determination circulate on social media especially on mobile feeds, motivating aspirants. IAS Ram Bhajan Kumhar hailed from the small village of Bapi in Rajasthan. His UPSC journey exemplifies the challenges faced by many in rural India.
Hailing from the humble village of Bapi in Rajasthan, Ram Bhajan Kumhaa and his mother faced many hardships, including living without proper shelter. Despite these daunting challenges, Ram Bhajan persevered and achieved an impressive 667th rank in the UPSC examination. His determination and resilience serve as an inspiration, illustrating that success is possible even in the face of adversity.
According to the media reports, Ram Bhajan Kumhar and his mother faced immense struggles as daily laborers in Rajasthan. Ram Bhajan’s work primarily involved breaking stones, while his mother carried heavy loads of these stones. At one point, he was tasked with moving around 25 cartons of stones each day, a demanding job that reflected their challenging circumstances. Despite his tireless efforts and dedication, he earned a mere Rs 5 to Rs 10 daily—hardly enough to buy a single meal.
IAS Ram Bhajan Kumhar secured the 667th rank in his eighth attempt. Kumar is among 933 candidates — 613 men and 320 women — who have qualified the Civil Services Examination 2022. Belonging to the OBC Category, IAS Ram Bhajan Kumhar scored 770 marks in the written examination and 162 in the personality tests. Overall, he scored 932 marks. Ram Bhajan Kumhara faced a heartbreaking tragedy when he lost his father to asthma during the Covid-19 pandemic. Coming from a family that relied on raising goats for their livelihood, this loss plunged them into severe poverty. With no other means to support themselves, Ram Bhajan and his family were compelled to take on manual labor jobs to make ends meet.
Kumar joined the force in 2009 as a constable and was first posted at Vijay Ghat in CP reserve. After serving there for some time, he was transferred to the Shahbad Dairy police station.
