Ratan Tata Spent Hours To Find Fish Rod
Ratan Tata was deeply considerate toward his staff, providing financial security and personal care. Rajan Shaw was his Cook and Tata ensured Shaw’s needs were met. He often used to pamper him with gifts. For example, when Shaw wanted to learn fishing, Tata went out of his way to find the perfect fishing rod. Mr. Mathew says Ratan Tata often had his meals with Rajen’s daughter and shared the same food as her. Shaw’s daughter frequently shared meals with Tata, reflecting his inclusive nature. Tata’s will includes provisions for Shaw to care for his German Shepherd, Tito, ensuring “unlimited care” for the dog.

Ratan Tata enjoyed diverse cuisines, ranging from Parsi dishes like khatta-meetha masoor dal and mutton pulao to international fare like sushi. He also had a fondness for dosas, pav bhaji, and grilled fish. During his travels, Tata often bought designer clothes for his cook and butler, showcasing his generosity.
Ratan Tata’s butler Subbiah, who served Tata for over 30 years, received financial security and companionship in recognition of his loyalty.
Ratan Tata shared a profound bond with his dogs, particularly Tito and Tango. After the passing of his first dog Tito, he adopted another German Shepherd and gave it the same name. His will ensured unlimited care for Tito, reflecting his deep affection for animals.
