Physics Wallah reached unicorn status in 2022 after raising $1.1 billion in its Series A funding round, with investments from Westbridge and GSV Ventures. The company’s valuation soared to $2.8 billion by September 2024, following another $210 million funding round.
Physics Wallah has recorded impressive profits over the years—₹9.4 crore in 2021, ₹133.7 crore in 2022, and ₹108 crore in 2023. Unlike competitors Byju’s, Unacademy, and Vedantu, which are still incurring losses, Physics Wallah stands out for its profitability.

Born on October 2, 1991, in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, Alakh Pandey showed academic excellence from an early age. He began teaching students when he was in the 8th grade to help support his family financially. Although he aspired to join IIT, Pandey couldn’t clear the entrance exam.
Instead, he pursued mechanical engineering at Harcourt Butler Technical University in Kanpur. However, driven by his passion for teaching, Pandey dropped out in his second year to pursue his dream of making education accessible to all.
