New Delhi: Nidhi Yadav is a renowned name in the world of fashion and lifestyle. A Gurgaon-based businesswoman, Nidhi Yadav is the founder of Aks Clothing, which was established in the year 2014. Nidhi always wanted to grow her career in the field of fashion. However, she started her career in corporate, due to some personal reasons. After working at one of the biggest multinational companies in the world, she realised that fashion and clothing were the only spaces where she wanted to build her future.

Born in Indore, Yadav found encouragement from her mentors to pursue her true passion—fashion. Determined to gain the right skills, she moved to Florence and enrolled in a one-year program at the prestigious Polimoda Fashion School. Nidhi is a computer engineer who worked at Deloitte. However, soon after realizing her heart lay in fashion, she decided to take a major leap and create her own brand.

During her time in Italy, Nidhi studied the business models of a lot of clothing and fashion brands. Once, in an old interview with an online news portal, Nidhi admitted that she took inspiration from the success stories of renowned brands and decided to create outfits at affordable prices. She said:

“I was always drawn towards clothing brands and their stories. So while pursuing a fashion designing course in Italy, I studied the business model of many iconic fashion brands. Inspired by their success, I decided to replicate it in Aks. We offer fashionable outfits at affordable prices and launch a new collection every 15 days so our customers can stay up-to-date with the trend.”

In 2014, Nidhi started Aks Clothing with just Rs 3.5 lakh at her 2BHK home in Gurugram, targeting young women aged 18-35 who wanted contemporary ethnic wear at affordable prices.

Aks rapidly gained popularity, with revenue climbing from Rs 1.60 crore in 2014 to Rs 8.50 crore in 2015 and then reaching Rs 48 crore by 2018. By 2021, Aks exceeded Rs 200 crore in revenue, achieving this impressive growth entirely without external funding.

In an old interview with CXOtoday.com, Nidhi Yadav shared the experience of traveling from Gurugram to Jaipur almost every weekend with her newborn baby. The mompreneur confessed that the journey was challenging, as she constantly worried about her daughter’s health. Nidhi also mentioned that she and her husband, Satpal Yadav, would work until 3:00 am after putting their baby to sleep. Despite the difficulties, Nidhi managed to navigate this demanding phase with the support of her husband and in-laws.
