During her intensive training at the Police Academy, Aparajita had the honour of receiving several awards, a testament to her dedication towards her job. She won some truly prestigious ones such as the Best Lady Outdoor Probationer, recognized by the 1958 Batch of IPS Officers. She also earned the Shri Umesh Chandra Trophy, a symbol of peerless field combat.
The 55th Batch of Senior Officers deemed her as the Best Turnout, complimenting her discipline and precision. Interestingly, her good command of Bengali language didn’t go unnoticed, as she was also awarded the West Bengal Government Trophy.

Aparajita faced a tremendous loss when she lost her mother, Roma Rai, at the very young age of 8. Even as a child, she became aware of the indifference with which government employees treated people.

At a very young age, she decided to appear for the civil servant. Talking about her studies in school, Rai excelled in academics and scored 95 percent on the ICS board in 2004. She also received the Founder’s Medal from Tashi Namgyal Academy for being an all-rounder.
Once she completed her studies, she managed to secure a BA LLB (Hons) degree from the respected West Bengal National University of Judicial Sciences and triumphed in the National Admission Test. She stood out in her batch, garnering Gold Medals in Public Administration and Jurisprudence. Despite her first attempt at the revered UPSC Civil Services Exam in 2009 not leading to success, she did not waver.

In 2010, Aparajita Rai made another courageous attempt at the UPSC Civil Services Exam, scoring 768. Unfazed and still hungry for success, she wasn’t content with her achievement. Showing unwavering resilience, she challenged herself once more in 2011, taking the UPSC exam for the third straight time, and impressively boosted her standing to rank 358.
UPSC Success Story: Current Posting
At present, Aparajita Rai emerges as a respected figurehead in the West Bengal cadre. She is currently posted in Siliguri, North Bengal as SS, IB. Her job demands unyielding responsibilities, yet she skillfully balances sports amidst her duties and even secured the runner-up position in the All India Police Badminton Championship earlier.
