Ratan Tata had a love for home-cooked Parsi food and it was the reason that he had never missed the annual celebrations of Tata Steel in Jamshedpur.
Well-known Parsi chef Parvez Patel was Ratan Tata’s favourite chef. He had a long association with Tata Industries, and Ratan Tata was fond of his cuisines.
Chef Parvez Patel started his career as a chef in a garage-turned restaurant, which attracted Tata Group officials and employees. Ratan Tata never missed the opportunity and he went to Jamshedpur to enjoy the cuisines he made.
Ratan Tata was very impressed with the food cooked by him. During an interview, chef Parvez said that Ratan Tata had a love for home-cooked Parsi food and his favourite cuisines were Khatte-Meethe Masoor dal, Mutton pulao dal and walnut custard.
Ratan Tata, Chairman Emeritus of one of the largest conglomerates, Tata Sons died on October 9. He was admitted to Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai. His last rites were performed with full state honours at Worli crematorium in Mumbai.
