IAS Pallavi Sharma, a law graduate and trained classical singer, cracked UPSC CSE without any formal coaching with a stellar All-India Rank of 73.

Majority of students who aspire to clear the UPSC Civil Services Examination (CSE), are usually focused on this singular goal, but there are a few who, besides excel in other fields and also manage to crack the tough UPSC exam. One such shining example is that of IAS Pallavi Sharma, a law graduate and trained classical singer, who cracked UPSC CSE without any formal coaching with a stellar All-India Rank of 73.

Who is IAS Pallavi Mishra

Born and raised in a upper middle-class household in Madhya Pradesh capital Bhopal, Pallavi Mishra completed her early education in her hometown before moving to Delhi where she graduated with a law degree from the National Law University. Apart from her academic achievements, Pallavi is also a trained classical singer and has a Masters degree in music and has trained in classical music under late late Pandit Siddharam Koravara.

The young IAS officer belongs to a distinguished family, Pallavi’s father Ajay Mishra is a senior advocate, while her mother, Dr. Renu Mishra is senior scientist. Pallavi’s older brother, Aditya Mishra, is an IPS officer who currently serves as the Deputy Commissioner of Police in Indore, Madhya Pradesh.

Law graduate to IAS officer

After completing her Masters degree in music, Pallavi Mishra decided to follow in the footsteps of her elder brother and crack the UPSC CSE, but success eluded her as she was unable to clear the exam in her first attempt. After the initial setback, Pallavi reviewed her strategy and immersed herself in self-study, which according to her became the key to her success.

Ultimately, Pallavi Mishra, without taking the help of any formal coaching, cracked the UPSC exam in her second attempt and achieved an impressive AIR of 73.

Pallavi has attributed her success to the unwavering support she received from her family, especially her IPS officer brother, who guided her throughout her journey of becoming an IAS officer.
