nu Kumari got married in 2012 and moved to Gurugram, where she gave birth to a son. However, she never let her aspiration to crack the UPSC exam die. To pursue her dream, she sent her son to her mother’s house for nearly two years and began her preparations.

The Union Public Service Commission examination is a dream for lakhs of aspirants who wish to become successful civil servants. Every year, lakhs of students appear for the exam, but only a few make the cut and are chosen as bureaucrats to serve society and the country.

Today we will talk about Anu Kumari who cracked the 2017 UPSC examination  and secured All India Rank (AIR) 2. 

Anu Kumari is a native of Haryana’s Sonipat. She earned her graduation in Science (hons) in Physics  form Delhi University. Later, she attended IMT Nagpur to pursue an MBA programme. 

After completing the MBA programme, she got a job with a leading IT company. But, UPSC was her passion and she said in an interview with Hindustan Times that the job did not give her career satisfaction. “My job was good, but there was no internal satisfaction. It all became so mechanical that at one point I could not take it anymore,” Hindustan Times quoted her as saying.

Anu Kumari appeared in the 2016 UPSC exam but  did not succeed in her first attempt. She gave another try in 2017 and secured an impressive AIR 2. Currently, she is serving as district collector of Thiruvananthapuram.
