Meghan Markle’s style has evolved over the years, from her days of being a Hollywood actress to being a full-time working royal, until now that she’s left the Firm. Whilst there the Duchess continues to divide opinions, her fashion is followed and envied by many.
From striped blazers to crisp white shirts and clean-cut silhouettes, the Duchess of Sussex has mastered the elegant and preppy style over the years.
Her sartorial choices have royal fans going wild every time she makes a new appearance, with several of her pieces selling out quickly.
Now style expert Megan Waktins, Head Stylist at online fashion destination SilkFred, has analysed Meghan’s fashion and exclusively pinpointed the five key pieces the duchess seems to wear to achieve a minimalistic but elegantly preppy look.

The Duchess of Sussex is a strong advocate of classic crisp white shirts. While she seems to delve into other colours too, Meghan is regularly spotted wearing the classic piece and style in in many different ways.
Watkins said: “For daytime excursions, she favours classic shirts in blue or white which she can easily pair with jeans or tailored trousers.
“A shirt also means Meghan can switch up her top layers as they go well with blazers, coats, or as we saw in Canada – capes.”

Meghan has been named by many the queen of skinny jeans as she is regularly spotted wearing them in a variety of styles from plain to boyfriend and even deconstructed.
Her latest appearance saw her don a pair of dark grey skinny jeans and a matching jumper as she stepped out in LA for dinner.
The stylist commented: “It seems that Meghan is an advocate of the skinny jean.
“She will often wear a skinny jean in black or dark denim to casual events for a clean, classic silhouette.”

Meghan’s love for classic and stylish pieces that will withstand the test of time, includes an elegant pair of black pumps.
Labelled by many stylists as a key closet item, pumps, flat or high-heeled, suede, leather or paten in any neutral hue can complete any outfit and make it look elegant.
The style expert commented: “Meghan doesn’t travel far without some trusty black pumps.
“High-heeled or flat, Meghan will opt for this closed-toe style on most occasions, again showing her love of classic and enduring fashion.”

Sticking to the theme of timeless, elegant pieces Meghan has quite the collection of stunning coats.
From light neutrals to darker colours and blacks, a coat can make or break an outfit.
Watkins said: “It is noticeable that Meghan favours neutral tones.
“She is often seen in a beige, camel or ecru long wool coat, which is easily adaptable and adheres to her tonal palette.”

Lastly, Prince Harry’s wife seems to be a big fan of clean-cut shapes and is particularly fond of off-the-shoulder maxi dresses when it comes to eveningwear.
The style expert concluded: “As we’ve seen Meghan likes to use classic silhouettes that will stand the test of time and often doesn’t delve too much into fleeting trends.
“For formal events, she often goes for an off-shoulder maxi dress, which offers femininity whilst being appropriate and fashion forward.”
