Meghan Markle’s stylistic flair was on full show during her three-day trip to Canada and according to one fashion expert there was one particular message she was trying to communicate to the public with her recent style choices.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex flew to Canada last week to mark “One Year to Go” until the Invictus Games Vancouver Whistler 2025.
Aside from sporting a brand new hair colour and new, thicker eyebrows, Meghan debuted a plethora of new looks, ranging from cosy day attire to formal eveningwear.
And according to a style expert, the duchess’s fashion in Canada was on point as her choices showed off her ability to “pull together seamless outfits that showcase her classic, subdued style that very much has its roots in contemporary fashion.”
Megan Waktins, head stylist at online fashion destination SilkFred, claimed that the main trend Prince Harry’s wife went for was “opulent simplicity”.
She added that there was a clear message behind her outfit choices the duchess was trying to convey.
The stylist explained to Express.co.uk: “During Meghan and Harry’s three-day trip to Canada, there was one overarching fashion trend – opulent simplicity.
“Aside from Meghan’s all-red look on Valentine’s Day, we mostly saw her in whites, beiges, navy’s and blacks – and of course, the earth-toned green dress.
“Meghan has often shied away from bold colours and her love for classic hues was clear on this trip.
“She showed some stylistic flair with a puffer jacket, black beanie and leather boots, all of which were a nod to current trends and a sense of youthful playfulness.”
She added: “As we are now aware that Meghan did not have a stylist for this trip, it’s clearer than ever that these choices are her own.
“Meghan showed off her ability to pull together seamless outfits that showcase her classic, subdued style that very much has its roots in contemporary fashion.”
“If Meghan was trying to convey a message with her style choices – it would be that she has it!”
