Melbourne star Kysaiah Pickett in hot water for head-high bump on Jake Soligo

Melbourne star Kysaiah Pickett will come under scrutiny for a head-high bump in Thursday night’s win over Adelaide.

During the second quarter, Pickett jumped up high in an attempt to smother a handball from Crow Jake Soligo and as he landed his upper arm made contact with Soligo’s face.

“You have to be so careful when you leave the ground these days,” former Geelong captain Joel Selwood said in commentary for Channel 7.

Given the AFL’s crackdown on head-high incidents, it will no doubt be looked at by the match review officer.

Pickett was last year banned twice for two separate head-high bumps.

In Round 1, he copped a two-match ban after launching himself into Western Bulldogs superstar Bailey Smith.

And he missed the opening match of his year after he was handed a one-match ban for bumping Patrick Cripps in last year’s semi-final loss to Carlton.

He finished Thursday night’s match with two goals from 11 disposals.
