Mercedes-Benz India has launched the limited-run AMG G 63 ‘Grand Edition’ in India at a starting price of Rs 4 crore. However, having a hefty bank balance is not the only thing that will get you this ultra-rare luxury SUV. The 25 units of the Mercedes-AMG G 63 Grand Edition that are brought to the Indian market will be available for exclusive allocation only for existing Mercedes-Maybach, Mercedes-AMG, and S-Class customers only.
The global production for the G 63 Grand Edition is limited to 1,000 units. Mercedes-Benz claims that the deliveries of the special edition version of the luxury performance SUV will commence from Q1 2024. Coming to the changes over the regular G 63, the Grand Edition features the AMG logo and Mercedes logo in an exclusive Kalahari Gold Magno shade, tracing the direct lineage of the SUV to the first ever G model from 1979. This special model is finished in an exclusive Night Black Magno shade with gold-colored details creating an exciting visual contrast.

The inlays in the front and rear bumpers, the underride protection in the front, the Mercedes emblem on the spare wheel inlay and the spare wheel ring are also finished in Kalahari Gold Magno. The special model is fitted with 22-inch AMG forged wheels with a cross-spoke design in tech gold with a matt black central locking nut and a Mercedes star also in tech gold.
The interior of the Mercedes-AMG G 63 “Grand Edition” also features the contrast of black and gold seen on the outside. The vehicle interior greets with an “AMG” emblem on the black door sill trims with illuminated borders. The seats are finished in G Manufaktur black nappa leather with contrasting gold stitching. Plaques with a gold AMG logo and gold edging are set into the backrests. The floor mats are also finished in black and decorated with gold stitching.
Do note that the AMG G 63 Grand Edition comes with fully fixed configuration, including the paint, interior and alloys. However, Mercedes-Benz says that a few configurable options are available for customers for customization. Powering the G 63 Grand Edition is the same 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine putting out 577 hp of maximum power and 850 Nm of peak torque. All-wheel drive is standard, with the SUV having a claimed 0 to 100 kmph sprint time of 4.5 seconds and a 220 kmph top speed.
