Welcome to the Bay Area News Group (Mercury News & East Bay Times) boys Athlete of the Week poll.

For the entire academic year, we will provide a list of candidates who stood out over the previous week and allow you, the reader, to vote for the winner.

This week, we consider performances from Nov. 4-9.

Polls close at 5 p.m. Wednesday.

Vote as many times as you’d like until then without using bots or any other artificial methods of voting.

Votes by email and after 5 p.m. Wednesday are not counted.

Winners are announced each Friday online and in the print edition of the Mercury News and East Bay Times sports sections.

Candidates for future Athlete of the Week polls can be nominated at [email protected].

We accept nominations until 11 a.m. each Monday.

We also review stats submitted to MaxPreps by coaches/team statisticians.

On to the nominees:

Marley Alcantara, Pittsburg football: Alcantara tossed two touchdown passes and ran for a third as Pittsburg wrapped up a 9-1 regular season with a big win over rival Antioch.

Aiden Akery, Willow Glen football: Akery completed 12 of 17 passes for 165 yards and ran for 61 more as Willow Glen wrapped up what is believed to be its first undefeated regular season since 1966.

Hunter Coleman, Menlo School water polo: Coleman, a freshman, scored six goals, stole five passes and drew three exclusions as Menlo beat Santa Cruz 16-6 in the CCS quarterfinals.

Christian DeGuzman, Alameda football: DeGuzman rushed for 157 yards as Alameda beat Encinal 42-7 in the 69th playing of the Island Bowl.

Grayson Doslak, Los Gatos football: Doslak rushed for three touchdowns to lead Los Gatos to a big 44-6 bounce-back win over Palo Alto.
