Met Gala Party, Location & More

As celebrities hit the steps of The Metropolitan Museum of Art on Monday night for the Met Gala, another event is taking place just a few subway stops away to celebrate the fashion industry’s behind-the-scenes workers.

“Get Wet After the Met” is taking place Monday night as a way to celebrate the fashion industry’s stylists, assistants, photographers and more employees who take part in the annual Met Gala, but don’t attend the star-studded event.

The event will take place at Upper East Side sports bar Baker Street Irregulars, which has been featured in films like Tom Cruise’s “Cocktail” and Diane Keaton’s “Looking for Mr. Goodbar.”

“We wanted to throw a party for all the hard workers who don’t get front row seats,” said Kendra Rogers, manager of Baker Street Irregulars. “These are the people who make fashion happen. Baker Street Irregulars has a unique role in pop culture, having been where Tom Cruise learned how to cocktail, so this seemed like a natural progression.”

The party starts at 6 p.m. and will include a livestream of the Met Gala red carpet, a Champagne toast, signature drinks, fashion trivia, bingo and more.

The 2024 Met Gala celebrates the museum’s “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion” exhibition with celebrity cochairs Zendaya, Jennifer Lopez, Bad Bunny and Chris Hemsworth. This year’s dress code is “The Garden of Time.”

Spectators will be able to follow Met Gala red carpet coverage through Vogue’s livestream across its social media platforms. E! will also offer red carpet coverage, which includes footage of celebrities as they’re leaving The Mark Hotel and The Pierre Hotel.
