Michael Jordan is as cranky as ever. The latest target of Jordan’s ire: Steph Curry saying he’s the greatest point guard of all time. Curry hedged after making the claim on Gilbert Arenas’ podcast earlier this week, but that was apparently still enough to set Jordan off.
Stephen A. Smith took his name-dropping to a new level on ESPN on Wednesday morning, reading a text from Jordan live on the air.
Smith said Jordan sent him the text at 5:54 a.m. on Wednesday. “Although greatest of anything is always a debate, I beg to differ on greatest point guard of all time,” Smith said the text read. “Magic Johnson is easily the best point guard of all time. Steph Curry is very close, but not in front of Magic. You must define ‘point guard’ to really have a serious debate. Steph Curry is by far the best shooter … but Magic Johnson invented the triple-double — not true ‘invented’ but makes it more noticeable in terms of the impact on the game. … Magic was the best. … By the way, Magic has five NBA championships.”
Of course Jordan would make sure to get a “COUNT THE RINGS” in there. In completely unrelated news, Jordan has six titles to LeBron James’ four. These debates may be extremely tiresome, but the 60-year-old man at the center of them all is bolting awake at the crack of dawn thinking about them.
