Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella lists three things that are important to the company

Microsoft recently closed the $69 billion Activision Blizzard deal putting an end to the long-standing regulatory battle in multiple regions. The company CEO Satya Nadella has now noted why the deal is important to the company.
Talking about the deal in an interview, Nadella said that gaming is one of a few things that “go all the way back for us as a company.”
“When I think about Microsoft, I think of perhaps developer tools, proprietary software, and gaming. Those are three things that we’ve done from the very beginning. And so, to us, gaming is the one place where we think we have a real contribution to make in consumer markets,” Nadella said.
Gaming is ‘changing radically’
Nadella said that the gaming industry is changing and the company wants to be both a game producer and publisher. With Activision Blizzard on their side, the company will become one of the largest publishers in the world.
“If I look at it, the amount of time people allocate to gaming is going up and Gen Z is going to do more of that. The way games are made, the way the games are delivered, is changing radically. Whether it’s mobile, or consoles, or PCs, or even the cloud,” he said.
“Now we’ll be one of the largest game publishers and also as a company that’s building platforms for it,” Nadella added.
Microsoft’s ‘Call of Duty’ deal
The company officially welcomed Activision Blizzard and their teams to Xbox earlier this month when the UK’s Competition and Markets Authority gave a green signal to the company’s acquisition of the ‘Call of Duty’ maker.
Activision Blizzard is the publisher of some of the most played and most beloved franchises in gaming history across console, PC and mobile. These games include Pitfall to Call of Duty, World of Warcraft to Overwatch, Candy Crush Saga to Farm Heroes Saga. The company consists of Activision, Blizzard and King which makes games like Candy Crush.
Microsoft has previously said that it wants to enter the mobile game market and provide gamers an option to compete with Google and Apple.
