NEET Result 2024 Row: Several politicians, including Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi and Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar, along with medical aspirants, have alleged discrepancies in the NEET exam. The allegations have led to protests in several cities and filing of petitions in several high courts as also the Supreme Court. Scores of students protested in Delhi on June 10 seeking a probe into alleged irregularities. The NTA has come under criticism amid allegations of irregularities and inflation of marks in the medical entrance exam.

Modiji’s ‘neat’ silence: Kapil Sibal Slams PM Modi

In a post on X, Rajya Sabha MP Kapil Sibal wrote,” NEET Examination The Gujarat factor Open corruption Open manipulation PLEASE notice : Modiji’s ‘neat’ silence.”

The opposition MPs have been attacking the government over the issue and demanding justice for students. Stepping up its attack on the government over the NEET-UG exam issue, the Congress on Friday questioned Modi’s “silence” on the matter and asserted that only a Supreme Court-monitored forensic probe can safeguard the future of lakhs of young students.

Earlier on Saturday, Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar urged the Centre to scrap the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) and allow states to conduct their own entrance tests. Speaking to reporters here, he said, “The irregularities in the NEET exam are serious. It is a question of the future of lakhs of students. The Centre must scrap NEET and allow states to conduct their own entrance tests. Students from across the country can participate in the tests conducted by states,” news agency PTI reported.

NEET Result Row: Plea in SC seeks scrapping of NEET-UG exam, Court-Monitored CBI probe

A plea has been filed in the Supreme Court of India seeking scrapping of the NEET-UG 2024 exam and an apex court-monitored probe by the CBI or any other independent agency into the alleged irregularities in the test held on May 5.

The petition, filed by 20 students who had appeared for the medical entrance exam, has also sought a direction to the National Testing Agency (NTA) and others to conduct the test afresh. NTA conducted the medical entrance examination on May 5 across 4,750 centres. Around 24 lakh candidates have appeared for the entrance examination. As per the NTA NEET Information bulletin, the results for NTA NEET were expected to be declared on June 14 but were announced on June 4, apparently because the evaluation of the answer sheets got completed earlier.

NEET UG Re-Test

Later, NTA decided to reconduct the NEET (UG) on June 23, 2024 for 1563 candidates who had experienced time
loss during the originally scheduled examination on 05 May 2024 and were awarded compensatory mark. The admit card for the same will be published soon. Candidates are advised to regularly visit NTA website(s) www.nta.ac.in and https://exams.nta.ac.in/NEET/ for the latest updates regarding the examination.
