India’s T20 World Cup 2024-winning team members Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav, Axar Patel, Arshdeep Singh and Shivam Dube turned up on Netflix’s ‘The Kapil Sharma Show’ recently. On the popular chat show, Team India all-rounder Shivam Dube was put under the hammer by host Kapil Sharma.

Dube, who plays for five-time Indian Premier League (IPL) champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK), was asked who is the better skipper – Rohit Sharma or MS Dhoni? Suryakumar Yadav and Rohit Sharma burst out laughing saying, “Phas gaya!”

But the young Mumbai all-rounder, who was ruled out of the three-match India vs Bangladesh 2024 T20 series, dodged the bouncer thrown by Kapil Sharma expertly. “When I am playing for Chennai, MS Dhoni is the best, when I am playing for India, Rohit Sharma is the best,” Shivam Dube said, leaving everyone including Kapil Sharma, stumped.

Rohit Sharma said in response, “Raat bhar practice karke aaya hai!” Dube had an impressive IPL 2024 campaign with CSK, scoring 396 runs with three fifties in 14 matches with a strike-rate of 162.30.

Meanwhile former T20 skipper Rohit Sharma spoke about the high-pressure situation during the T20 World Cup 2024 final against South Africa. “They had wickets in plenty and a settled batter on the field. We were all tense, freaking out. But at that moment, a captain has to show a strong front for the whole team, signaling that there is no need to panic,” he told Kapil Sharma.

“Anything could have happened on that wicket. When we were batting, we lost wickets, then made a partnership, and later lost wickets again. We expected the same could happen to them as their batting lineup ended at the seventh position. We had to take a wicket at any cost since Klaasen and Miller were playing,” he added.

Rohit Sharma has retired from T20I cricket after winning the T20 World Cup 2024 earlier this year. Meanwhile, Team India are leading the three-match T20I series vs Bangladesh 1-0 after winning the first game on Sunday in Gwalior. The second T20I match is set to take place at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi on Wednesday.
