Mumbai: Rohit Sharma was top-class on Sunday night with the bat as he brought up his maiden IPL century against Chennai Super Kings at the Wankhede but unfortunately ended up on the losing side. Despite Rohit’s ton, MI lost the game by 20 runs. Rohit was dejected after the loss and hence he did not even celebrate his century. Following the match, Dhoni went upto Rohit and hugged him tightly. Dhoni and Rohit have been over the years among the finest to have led India and their respective IPL franchise and hence to see the mutual respect between the two stalwarts is gold for fans.

Despite wickets falling around him, Rohit remained unflustered as he remained unbeaten on 105* off 63 balls. His innings was laced with five sixes and 11 fours. During his knock, he also became the first Asian batter to hit 500 sixes in T20s.
Earlier in the day, Dhoni faced four balls and hit 20 runs. He hit a hattrick of sixes of the first three balls he faced of Hardik Pandya in the final over.
“We felt the game is sliding a little when Rohit was going well. I felt let’s be brave here and make him hit to the bigger side. If he gets a boundary full marks to him and if he misses we could turn the game,” Shardul revealed the plan for Rohit after the match.
