Dhaka: Chief Adviser Prof Muhammad Yunus-led interim government in Bangladesh has been expanded on Friday with four more advisers joining the team.

The four new advisors are Wahiduddin Mahmud, an economist; Ali Imam Majumdar, a former cabinet secretary; Muhammad Fouzul Kabir Khan, a former power secretary; and Lt Gen Jahangir Alam Chowdhury.

With the inclusion of these four individuals, the interim government’s advisory council now comprises 21 members.

Yunus, along with 13 other advisers, was sworn in on August 8, just four days following the collapse of the Sheikh Hasina-led government due to a revolt over government job quota reforms. An additional two advisers took their oaths on August 11, and another was sworn in the following day.

President Mohammed Shahabuddin presided over the oath-taking ceremony for the four new advisers at Bangabhaban, the presidential residence.

Economist Wahiduddin Mahmud, who previously served as an adviser to the 1996 caretaker government, and Ali Imam Majumder, who was appointed as a special assistant to the chief adviser of the current interim government on August 12, were among the appointees, according to a news portal.
