Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani might have taken a gigantic step with the plan of Reliance group-led Next-Gen InfraCo (NGIC) for introducing a Jio-like internet revolution in Ghana, an African nation. NGIC would work to advance digital connectivity as well as high-quality 5G services across Ghana.

Mukesh Ambani’s Big Move

Next-Gen InfraCo. is set to launch its inaugural 5G network this Friday, as announced by Minister of Communications and Digitalization Ursula Owusu-Ekuful to the media. NGIC has associated with the Government of Ghana, Ascend Digital Solutions, K-Net, Nokia, and Radisys to drive this goal. The firm under Mukesh Ambani’s control with Reliance Industries Ltd, Radisys Corp., will offer NGIC in the new Ghana deal network infrastructure, applications, and smartphones.

NGIC To Bring Internet Revolution In Ghana

NGIC acquired spectrum rights from the Ghanaian government for $125 million giving them a monopoly for ten years in the development of a 5G network in Ghana. Owusu-Ekuful says this development will make services cheaper. NGIC will provide the network and other operators will lease the network to supply services to their subscribers.

According to a report by the Economic Times, their sources claimed that by this move Gana govt minister said that they wish to democratize access to high-speed connectivity across the nation to encourage businesses to sprout up in the countryside and not just in the big cities, and create economic zones, thereby providing more opportunities for entrepreneurs.

The economy of the North-west African country grew significantly, rising from 4.7% in the last quarter to 6.9% in the third quarter owing to the rapidly growing mining industry, according to the report.
