Multi-vehicle crash in Western Sydney leads to alleged violent affray and stabbing, five arrested

Five men have been arrested following a multi-vehicle crash that allegedly turned violent in Western Sydney on Wednesday morning.

The smash involved eight vehicles on the M4 at South Wentworthville, about 25km west of the CBD, about 3.45am.

A white Isuzu truck collided with another car, triggering a domino effect involving other motorists, police allege.

“I didn’t realise it was eight — I only saw a truck there, and then a car here and another car over here, but there were lots of cops on the highway,” witness Jermaine Cruz said.

As people climbed out of their damaged cars, fists went flying.

“It is believed the driver of the truck – a 30-year-old man – was assaulted by four men before they left the scene,” NSW Police said.

It is understood the driver was allegedly stabbed in the back of the head.

He was treated by paramedics before being taken to hospital under police guard.

Four other men have been arrested, with three taken to Parramatta Police Station and one to Granville Police Station.

They are assisting police with their inquiries and no charges have been laid.

A Toyota SUV will also be forensically examined.

Police continue to investigate the incident.
