As a direct result of the derailment incident, more than 20 trains were cancelled or short-terminated.
Western Railway Trains Affected: On Tuesday evening at around 5.10 pm, seven wagons of a goods train derailed at the Palghar railway station in Maharashtra, affecting the rail traffic of Mumbai-bound trains from Gujarat.
This information was shared by a railway spokesperson in Mumbai. A section of the Mumbai-Surat line was affected due to the accident. No casualties were reported, he said.
Sumit Thakur, the Chief PRO of Western Railway said, “Efforts are on to restore the traffic on the affected line. Accident Relief Trains (ART) from Nandurbar, Udhna, Bandra Terminus, and Valsad are on the way.”
The derailment incident led to the cancellation or short termination of over 20 trains.
“Up line of Mumbai-Surat section affected due to derailment of 6 wagons of a goods train at point no 117/118 at Palghar yard at around 5:08 pm. Six Up and five Down Dahanu local trains have been cancelled,” said a Western Railway official adding that the restoration work is in progress.
