Musk: Elon Musk says X won’t take users’ private data to train its AI models

Earlier this year, Elon Musk put rate limits which means that users will be able to view a certain number of tweets in a day. Musk said that AI firms were scraping the site for data to train chatbots for free and these limits are put in place to curb this. Cut to X’s updated Privacy Policy that adds a mention of using X data to train AI models for a better experience on the platform. Musk has now issued a clarification on the same.
An account with the name of X News Daily posted a screenshot of X’s updated privacy policy which suggests that X will use its users’ data to train machine learning models to offer a better experience to users on the platform.
“We use the information we collect to provide and operate Twitter products and services. We also use the information we collect to improve and personalise our products and services so that you have a better experience on Twitter, including by showing you more relevant content and ads, suggesting people and topics to follow, enabling and helping you discover affiliates, third-party apps, and services,” the updated policy said.
Replying to the post, Musk said that X will use “just public data, not DMs or anything private.”

X updates privacy policy
This comes a day after reports suggested that the company may collect and use users’ biometric data for safety, security, and identification purposes.
“Based on your consent, we may collect and use your biometric information for safety, security, and identification purposes,” the company said in its new policy, without defining what it considers biometric.
The privacy policy also says that X may also collect “your employment history, educational history, employment preferences, skills and abilities, job search activity and engagement.”
This is likely related to the job search features that Musk has hinted at including. Recently, Musk said that X’s job search feature will be ‘cooler’ than LinkedIn’s.
