Netanyahu warns Iran, Hezbollah after assassination attempt, says 'Grave mistake...'

Tel Aviv: Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has issued a stern warning to Hezbollah, describing a recent drone attack on his private residence as a “grave mistake.” The drone, which reportedly originated from Lebanon, targeted his residence, and Netanyahu interpreted it as an “assassination attempt.” In his response, he emphasized that such actions would not deter either him or Israel from continuing their mission to eliminate terrorist threats, including Hezbollah and those who support or direct them.

Netanyahu’s response came after a drone was launched towards his residence in the Israeli town of Caesarea. During the attack, Netanyahu and his wife Sara were not at home. According to The Times of Israel report, two other drones that were fired from Lebanon on Saturday morning were downed by Israel’s air defences, triggering sirens in Tel Aviv.

Sharing a post on X(formerly Twitter), Netanyahu wrote, “The attempt by Iran’s proxy Hezbollah to assassinate me and my wife today was a grave mistake. This will not deter me or the State of Israel from continuing our just war against our enemies in order to secure our future. I say to Iran and its proxies in its axis of evil:”

“Anyone who tries to harm Israel’s citizens will pay a heavy price. We will continue to eliminate the terrorists and those who dispatch them. We will bring our hostages home from Gaza. And we will return our citizens who live on our Northern border safely to their homes,” Netanyahu said.

Netanyahu added, “Israel is determined to achieve all our war objectives and change the security reality in our region for generations to come. Together, we will fight, and with God’s help – together, we will win.”

Netanyahu on Friday addressed the people of Gaza, saying the war can end as soon as tomorrow if Hamas agrees to lay down its arms and return the hostages. ‘Yahya Sinwar is dead. He was killed in Rafah by the brave soldiers of the Israel Defense Forces. While this is not the end of the war in Gaza, it’s the beginning of the end,” he wrote while sharing the video on X.
