If you hadn’t realized, the 2024 Fiat 500e is already arriving at dealers here in the United States, with the first ones all being painted bright red. Keeping in the brands plans to release special editions like shoe drops, the brand has “dropped” a new special edition. The latest 500e is called the Fiat 500e Inspired By Los Angeles, and it’s… gray?

You’re probably asking just how a small Italian electric car could be inspired by Los Angeles while being a fairly boring color — isn’t LA known for its sunny beaches and palm trees? The 500e’s new color is called Marine Layer Mist, and it’s inspired by a different sort of weather effect that Southern California is also known for.

To delve into a bit of meteorology, a marine layer forms when a cool air mass over the ocean forms and collides with warm air over the land. The results are cool temperatures and gray skies, which sometimes manifests as fog that usually burns off by the early afternoon. Fiat created a color with a silvery, blue-like hue that nicely complements the skies.

Other unique features exclusive to the Inspired By Los Angeles include black window trim, matte gray mirror caps, a body color dashboard, a seven-speaker JBL audio system and 17-inch diamond-cut wheels with either summer or all-season tires. That’s all in addition to a bunch of driver-assist tech, too. Like other 500e’s, it has a 42-kWh battery pack that gives it 149 miles of.

None of this comes cheap. Including destination charges, the Fiat 500e Inspired By Los Angeles will start at $37,595. If you’re interested in dropping that much on an electric city car, Fiat says they’ll be available to order at dealers starting this month before going on sale in the third quarter of this year.
