New Home and Away cast member Tristan Gorey tells all as ‘high-stakes’ storyline set to grip fans

A new doctor is set to shake things up at Summer Bay, becoming integral to a gripping new storyline.

Perth-born Tristan Gorey, 28, is set to hit screens as cardiothoracic surgeon Dr Levi on Tuesday’s episode, arriving to save the life of a Home and Away favourite.

Tristan has exclusively revealed new details of his role and involvement with a “central character”.

“Levi comes in during a really high-stakes storyline,” he tells 7Life.

“He’s fighting to save the life of a central character.

“It’s the start of a big storyline that will go on for a while and will certainly have fans gripped.”

The actor was living in Perth when the audition came up, finding that he was “attached to Levi straight away”.

After a successful self-tape and chemistry test, Tristan was told to pack his bags and make the bold move to Sydney.

“I think Sydney is where I need to be right now. And I’m loving every minute of it,” he says of his new home.

“I’m trying to join as many communities as possible, I’m keen to get involved in a run club and archery on the weekends, maybe a bit of rock climbing here and there.”

While in a new city, Tristan has found a little slice of home on the Home and Away set, with several other of the stars originating from the west.

Among them are Juliet Godwin, Ally Harris, and Jacqui Purvis – who Tristan already knew from “many moons ago”.

In a fun coincidence, Tristan, Juliet and Ally’s characters all work in the hospital, with Tristan joking: “We’ve got our own little hospital hub that’s just run by Perth people, which I think is kind of cute”.

“I’m thrilled to be able to work with Juliet,” he adds, sharing that they both attended WAAPA, the Performing Arts Academy in WA several years apart.

Juliet, who arrived in the Bay in August 2022, gave him advice on getting up to speed with the “very fast storylines” and being across what is happening on set.

But with such a close cast, Tristan says that “all have been so warm and welcoming”.

He also gave an insight into life on the Home and Away set, sharing that if the set were a house, “I would compare the makeup department to the kitchen”.

“Everyone kind of comes to the kitchen to hang out and chat,” he says.

“It’s our first port of call and usually our last where we all say goodbye.”

Making him feel at home is the head of makeup Laura, who Tristan calls the “mother hen” of the entire cast.

“The makeup department is just such a wonderful place to start your day,” the actor says.
