Sharing the video of the Dwarka Expressway on his social media handles, Gadkari called it a ‘marvel of engineering’. He also claims that the project will be opened for public in a matter of just three to four months. Gadkari goes on to say that people travelling on the upcoming Dwarka Expressway will not be able to forget it for 100 years! Moreover, the project has also resulted in replantation of about 1,200 trees – the first for any similar project in India.

The expressway will take off from km 20 of NH 48 (old NH 8) at Shiv Murti in Mahipalpur, Delhi and terminate at km 40 of NH 48 near Kherki Daula Toll Plaza in Gurugram, Haryana. The Dwarka Expressway is planned as an alternate road link between Delhi and Gurugram in a bid to ease the traffic situation on the existing Delhi-Gurugram Expressway.
A total of 2 lakh metric tonne steel is claimed to have been used for the project – 30x of what was used to construct the Eiffel Tower. The new Expressway aims to reduce travel time from Dwarka to Manesar to just 15 minutes, Manesar to IGI Airport to 20 minutes. Once completed, the Dwarka Expressway will also improve the connectivity of the upcoming India International Convention and Expo Centre in Sector 25, Dwarka.
