No sex please, we’re Bridgerton: Trailer for part two of season three sees tensions rise between lovers and Colin in part two of series three… but there’s no sign of the promised raunchy scenes

However, the raunchy sex scenes that made the first series such a hit seem to be missing, despite producers promising fans the ‘steamiest season yet.’

The first part of the season saw the will-they-won’t-they flirtation finally turn to romance which ended on a raunchy cliffhanger.

But as their friends-to-lovers story pans out the new trailer sees Penelope battle to keep Lady Whistledown a secret amid her engagement to Colin.

The trailer begins with as the ton receives the news that Colin is betrothed to Penelope, with many reacting in shock.

‘I have always love you Colin. There is nothing that makes me happier than being with you,’ Penelope says.

Although their romance has finally blossomed, one problem persists as Colins sister Eloise threatens to tell Penelope’s secret.

‘You have not told him that you are Lady Whistledown?’ Eloise claims.

Penelope hits back: ‘Colin cannot find out the truth, Whistledown is power.’

Eloise then threatens: ‘If you cannot reveal it to him yourself, then I will reveal it to him myself.’

Complicating matters for Penelope is her rift with Eloise (Claudia Jessie), who has found a new friend in a very unlikely place, while Penelope’s growing presence in the ton makes it all the more difficult to keep her Lady Whistledown alter ego a secret.

Bridgerton made its comeback last week and according to What’s On Netflix the hit romance series is back and better than ever as it pulled in a huge 45.1 million views within just four days of going global on Netflix.

Within its first four days, Bridgerton Season 3 Part 1 reportedly scored 165.20 million viewing hours, equating to 45.10 million views.

Netflix described the views from the opening four days as ‘only the beginning’ and teased more to come.

In a press release released by them, they said: ‘Spring has sprung, which means it’s finally #Polin (not pollen) season. Part 1 of Season 3 of Shonda Rhimes’ Bridgerton debuted at #1 on the English TV List, racking up 45.1M views.

‘The series, which stars Nicola Coughlan and Luke Newton, was #1 in 78 countries and reached the Top 10 in 92. And this is only the beginning.

‘With Part 2 set to release on June 13, who knows how high this wallflower will climb? PSA for the millions of fans having post-binge withdrawals: find yourself a support group, put on some music, light a candle and get into something comfy – more of the carriage-style scenes you’re craving will be here shortly.’

But after being promised that this season is the steamiest yet, viewers are made to wait until the closing moments of part one for the central love story to really kick off.

Series three focuses on the will-they-won’t-they flirtation between Penelope and Colin, but the plotline of best friends realising their true feelings proves to be a slow burner.

Season three ends on a steamy cliffhanger as after being unable to think of anyone else, Colin eventually declares his love for Penelope in a carriage after she was left heartbroken by Lord Debling.

During the encounter, which takes place at the end of the fourth episode, Penelope admits that she’d ‘very much like to be more than friends’ with Colin, and the pair eventually kiss, going on to share quite the steamy scene together.

But just as they’re getting into it, they arrive at the Bridgerton house, and after Colin fixes Penelope’s dress and hair, he steps down from the carriage and puts out his hand to Penelope to ask whether she’s coming with him.

The show was then left on a cliffhanger, as Colin hit fans with the iconic line from the Romancing Mister Bridgerton novel: ‘For God’s sake, Penelope Featherington, are you going to marry me or not?’

The show came under fire for its lack of steamy scenes in the second series, with a meagre three minutes of bedroom action amid eight hours and 29 minutes of screen time.

Viewers can already expect more from the first four episodes of series three, with at least six minutes of kissing, sex, threesomes and lesbian love-making.

But after being promised that this season is the steamiest yet, viewers are made to wait until the closing moments of part one for the central love story to really kick off.

Most of the action between Penelope and Colin promises to come when part two arrives on June 13.

Viewers will also see how Prudence Featherington copes with motherhood, having revealed at the end of episode four that she is expecting her first child with Robert Huxley.

Her mother Portia will no doubt have plenty to say on the matter, having encouraged Prudence to be ‘familiar’ with her husband in the bedroom in order to provide her with a grandchild.

Other fan favourite couples are seen enjoying newlywed bliss and secret dalliances.

Fans are treated to an update on married life for series two’s main characters Lord Anthony and Kate Sharma.

In fact, Anthony and Kate are in the first sex scene of the new series, which takes places 31 minutes into the first episode.

Fans were thrilled to see series two’s main characters Lord Anthony and Kate Sharma return in series three, after the close of the previous season saw the fan favourite couple marry.

He is later involved in another threesome but can’t help thinking about his friend.

Nicola revealed that series three of Bridgerton will be even raunchier than the previous two.

The actress previously admitted she was initially terrified to film sex scenes with Luke.

Nicola shared: ‘I think we’ve won the sauciness for this series! I am so excited, I can’t wait. It was one of the best experiences I’ve ever had. Luke Newton who plays my love interest is so wonderful.’

Fans can expect more action in the second drop of episodes, with Nicola telling The Sun: ‘It’s steamy. I was like, ‘Oh wow, are we really doing that?’

She also revealed in an interview with the Radio Times: ‘There is one where I am very naked on camera and that was my idea, my choice.

‘It just felt like the biggest ‘f*** you’ to all the conversations surrounding my body. It was amazingly empowering. Having now watched those scenes, I’m so proud of them.’

Nicola also confirmed that she and co-star Luke got ‘so comfortable’ that they would lounge together naked in between filming sex scenes.
