Noah Balta fuming at three-quarter time of Richmond’s clash with Adelaide

Richmond swingman Noah Balta has AFL fans confused after staring down the barrel of a Channel 7 camera with an incensed look on his face.

The 24-year-old was instrumental in the Tigers’ win — just their second of the year — over Adelaide on Friday night, with 20 disposals and 12 marks.

But there was clearly a bug in his bonnet at three-quarter time against the Crows.

Balta appeared to give a death stare in the direction of the camera and mouth some frustrated words as he and his teammates came in for the huddle at the final change.

Emotion in the team was high after youngster Noah Cumberland gave away a free kick that cost Richmond a shot at goal in the dying stages of the third quarter.

It was a crucial moment that kept the Crows in the game, preventing a goal that would have stretched the Tigers’ lead to 28 points.

Balta swallowed his frustration to get to Cumberland and pat him on the back in support as he approached the huddle, but then immediately turned to the camera.

He appeared to mouth the words f****** stupid.

It’s unclear what Balta was angry at, and whether his words were directed at Cumberland’s indiscretion, the camera being near him, or something else completely.

Fans didn’t miss it though, that’s for sure.

“Noah Balta not a big fan of the cameraman?” one said.

“For some reason Noah Balta seems FILTHY at the cammo at 3QT,” another added.

Cumberland gave away the free kick just when Jacob Koschitzke was about to have a shot at goal after taking a pack mark.

“That was a very stupid move at a critical moment in the game,” Alister Nicholson said on Channel 7.

“Cumberland will certainly feel the coach’s wrath for a cardinal sin there.”

Dale Thomas agreed it was an awful moment.

“Oh no. That was horrible by Cumberland,” he added.

“A real brain fade. No need to do it. You could see when he was running in he had real intent.

“Hopefully that doesn’t cost them in the long run.”
