Noah Cyrus steals the show as the blushing latex bride

As one of the final shows of Fall/Winter 2024 season at Paris Fashion Week, young French brand Avellano put a modern twist on its signature PVC looks and featured singer/songwriter Noah Cyrus as both the opening model and final bridal look.

On the last leg of Paris Fashion Week’s 9-day streak of Fall/Winter collections, young eponymous brand Avellano, founded in 2020 by Arthur Avellano, showed in an abandoned concrete industrial space on Paris’s left bank. Fashion’s cool kids du jour – that included this season’s front row habitué Cole Sprouse, as well as Brazilian model Kelly Piquet and singer/songwriter Naomi Sharon – arrived in style in typical Avellano attire, meaning full PVC looks from the brand.

Avellano’s muse (starring already in his Spring/Summer 2024 campaign), singer/songwriter Noah Cyrus opened the show in an olive green bomber jacket and matching stockings, the former being reinterpreted in full vinyl as part of a collaboration with outerwear brand Schott NYC. Bodysuits and latex gloves were also recurring notable elements, as well as skintight evening dresses.

The soundtrack of the show was none other than Cyrus’s own deep, velvety voice, which could be heard echoing through the cemented walls of the venue. It was later revealed in a press release that the melancholic, heartfelt (and impossible to Shazam!) song is in fact an upcoming, unreleased track by the artist.

Avellano stuck to his established DNA as different vinyl variations spilled onto the catwalk. From oversized, jet-black blazers to floor-length, forest green and translucent trench-coats; elongated puffer jackets and a couple of coats mimicking a motif reminiscent of Astrakhan fur, each piece was elegantly conceived in a democratization of vinyl. Avellano elevates the controversial fabric to the ranks of high fashion, sealing its inclusion in the industry and upraising its status above that of the racks of a shady Rue Saint-Denis sex shop.

Another strong suit of the show was an elongated, ghost white latex doctor’s coat, slit at the crotch and paired with thin, black sunglasses, as well as a backless body-hugging PVC halter fishtail dress that sashayed across the catwalk.

The best was saved for last, as Noah Cyrus closed the show in a jaw-dropping, custom-made (all of Avellano’s looks are) bridal dress that bore a ten-meter vinyl train, which followed the star and the designer as they received a thunder of applause.
