Noel Tata, the new Chairman of Tata Group after the demise of Ratan Tata, has a special connection with Pune. Noel’s son Neville Tata is married to Manasi Kirloskar, daughter of late Pune-based industrialist Vikram Kirloskar and Geetanjali Kirloskar.
Noel Tata has been picked as the next Chairman of Tata Trusts, after Tata Group’s Chairman Emeritus and Noel’s half-brother, Ratan Tata, passed away earlier this week at the age of 86. After Ratan Tata’s demise, Noel Tata, 67, has been chosen to lead Tata Trusts, which essentially owns Tata Sons, having a 66 percent stake in the holding company which runs the Tata Group.
The decision was taken in a meeting of the board on Friday, three days after Ratan Tata’s passing. However, a formal announcement is yet to be made in the matter.
Notably, Tata Trusts is an umbrella company under which several trusts engaged in philanthropic ventures in fields such as art, culture, education, health, and livelihood generation, operate. Tata Trusts has a combined 66 percent stake in Tata Sons, making it the majority shareholder of the company.

Who is Manasi Kirloskar?
Manasi Kirloskar is a member of the Kirloskar family, an esteemed business family which runs the Kirloskar Group, a company as old as the Tata Group itself, established by its founder Laxmanrao Kirloskar in the year 1888.
Manasi was born on August 7, 1990 and has a Bachelors degree in Fine Arts from Rhode Island School of Design in the United States. In 2019 she got married to Noel Tata’s son, Neville, in a private affair held at Ratan Tata’s Colaba home in South Mumbai. Manasi and Neville are now parents to two kids, a boy and a girl, named Jamsetji Tata and Tiana Tata, respectively.
After her father’s demise in 2023, Manasi Kirloskar was appointed the new Vice Chairperson of Toyota Kirloskar Auto Parts (TKAP) and Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM). She also serves as the Chairperson of Toyota Engine India Limited (TIEI), Kirloskar Toyota Textile Private Limited (KTTM), Toyota Material Handling India Private Limited (TMHIN), and Deno Kirloskar Industries Private Limited (DNKI).
