Off-White, the hipster conceptual streetwear marque, on Tuesday celebrated the 125th anniversary of AC Milan with a new uniform and capsule for the powerhouse football team.
The timing could not be better. Tuesday is both the opening day of Milan Fashion Week, and the first round of the new format Champions’ League, the most watched and most valuable club competition on the planet.
Its opening match: Milan vs Liverpool in the legendary San Siro Stadium, pitting two teams that between them have won soccer’s greatest club tournament 13 times.
The fresh kit marks the third year of partnership, between LVMH controlled label Off-White and AC Milan.
A collection that incorporates iconic symbols of the team’s Rossoneri – or Red-blacks team colors – its devil mascot; graphic 125s and gold accents. Seen in a selection of sack suits; varsity jackets, hoodies and T-shirts, as well as a range of accessories, such as baseball caps, football scarves, luggage, and socks.
Off-White collaborated with Milan-based photographer Nicolò Parsenziani to capture players from the AC Milan Men’s, Women’s and Milan Futuro teams wearing the capsule— Álvaro Morata, Mike Maignan, Tijjani Reijnders, Angelica Soffia, Allyson Swaby, Kevin Zeroli, and Álex Jiménez.
In addition to the campaign, Off-White will launch the capsule collection with an in-store event at its Via Verri flagship this Thursday, in collaboration with AC Milan and GQ Italia. During this occasion the exclusive partnership with New Era, the iconic headwear and sportswear brand, will be unveiled too: a unique capsule collection of a limited and numbered quantity of the 59FIFTY fitted and the 9FORTY adjustable silhouettes. Both can be purchased and customized during the event.
Starting September 19, the new sporting capsule will be available on Off-White, Farfetch and AC Milan websites; in Off-White’s Milan flagship and in all AC Milan stores, including its new boutique “La Bottega del Diavolo” on central Via Dante.
Founded in Milan in 2013 by the late Virgil Abloh, an Illinois-born architect of Ghanian origin, Off-White has always been about defining the grey area between black and white as a color. Ranging from clothing and accessories to objects and furniture, the brand has created a cult following – evident at its most recent show and collection, designed by Ib Kamara, and staged in New York 10 days ago underneath the Brooklyn Bridge.
