OAKLAND — Two separate shootings early this morning in Oakland, including one outside the venue of the Summer Jam concert, have left two people injured, according to police reports.
The first incident occurred just after midnight in the west parking lot of the Oakland Arena, following the annual KMEL Summer Jam concert, featuring hip hop artists E-40, Jeezy, Larussell, and Bossman DLow, among others.
Authorities said the shooting stemmed from a confrontation that began inside the arena during the concert, allegedly over one group being too rowdy and obstructing the view of another group.
The group that was allegedly being bothered by other concertgoers left the venue first, and waited in the parking lot for the other group to exit.
Upon encountering the second group again, a physical altercation ensued, and a 30-year-old woman from Vallejo allegedly shot a 34-year-old woman from Stockton, striking her in the legs and arms.
The victim was part of the group that had reportedly been obstructing others during the concert.
The suspect surrendered to police on the scene, and the firearm was recovered. No other injuries were reported. The suspect was arrested on suspicion of assault with a firearm.
Meanwhile, another shooting occurred around 2:10 a.m. on the 1700 block of Franklin Street.
A 34-year-old man was confronted by another man on the street. The two men did not know each other.
As the victim attempted to flee, he was shot in the upper torso. He transported himself to the hospital, where he is reported to be in stable condition.
No information has been released about the suspect in the second incident.
The Oakland Police Department and Crime Stoppers are offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the shooter.
