The OnePlus 12 is coming soon and there is no doubt about it. The company confirmed the existence of its upcoming OnePlus flagship phone at the BOE conference event held in China, where it announced its latest OLED screen tech ready to hit production line. OnePlus has confirmed the display and chipset details of the upcoming OnePlus 12 smartphone, in addition to giving us the first look of the flagship.
At the event, a few models of the OnePlus 12 were on display, just to showcase the display output of the upcoming phone. The back camera module is hidden as the device is on display with a case. OnePlus clearly wants to hide the design of the phone and doesn’t want to reveal it before the launch event. At the back, we can see, there is a big square camera bump and an alert slider on the right side of the phone. It seems to have very thin bezels around the display. The volume and power buttons on placed on the other side of the device. On the front, you will of course see a punch-hole display design, just like previous models. The rest of the details are yet to be revealed in terms of design.
Coming to the display, OnePlus is claiming that the upcoming OnePlus 12 will have an “Oriental Screen” and the device will be equipped with OPPO’s first-generation display chip Display P1 as well as a high-precision pixel-level calibration algorithm for better image quality, higher brightness, and lower power consumption. The flagship phone has obtained DisplayMate A+ certification and the screen has support for 2K resolution. While the display size is still unknown, the images did suggest that the handset could retain OnePlus 11’s 6.7-inch LTPO screen. This is something that even leaks have suggested.
The screen has 2,600nits of peak brightness, which is slightly less than the recently launched OnePlus Open which has 2,800nits. Nevertheless, the OnePlus 12 will have a brighter display than recent flagship phones launched in India. The company is also claiming that the screen will have more than two times the lifespan than normal displays on phones and will offer the “most eye-protective” screen experience.
The OnePlus 12 will be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, the company confirmed at the event. This revelation backs all the previous claims made by the leaks about the display and chipset. The rest of the details are yet to be revealed by OnePlus about its upcoming flagship phone. The official launch date is yet to be announced by the company.
