The new retail spaces, located in Marin, CA, Carlsbad, CA, Palo Alto, CA, and Georgetown, DC, are expected to embody Outerknown’s core ethos of sustainability and responsibility.

Designed by Starch Creative, each location has been thoughtfully and responsibly customized, featuring sustainable elements, including fixtures made from S.E.A. denim scraps, sustainable paperpaste mannequins, reclaimed flooring crafted from submerged hemlock logs from Nova Scotia, and maritime rope art installations by environmental scientist and artist Ethan Estess.

Furthermore, each store will feature the new Sonos Pro retail sound experience, enhancing the overall shopping experience. Customers will also have the opportunity to personalize their products through an on-site embroidery station.

“These new retail spaces are a true celebration of community,” said Slater. “Many of these spots are places I love to visit and feel personally connected to. These locations also represent the work that many of my friends are doing to clean up the ocean and planet, like York reclaimed floors and Ethan Estess. Good planets are hard to find, and at Outerknown, we are working tirelessly to protect the one we’ve got. That takes getting everyone onboard.”

Each store will house Outerknown’s hero products, including the Blanket Shirt, S.E.A. Jeans and Jumpsuits, Climate Beneficial sweatpants and sweatshirts, t-shirts made from Regenerative Organic Certified cotton, and the popular recycled Apex Trunks by Kelly Slater, among others.

“In looking at locations for this next iteration of Outerknown’s retail presence, we really sought to open our doors in places where there are folks who believe in what the brand stands for – a commitment to responsible business, courageous change and great clothing,” added Moore.

“I can’t wait for our friends and customers to experience the level of detail and environmental consideration that went into each of these new spaces. We are very proud.”

The retail expansion builds on stores in Boston, SoHo, Vermont, Malibu, El Segundo, and The Surf Ranch in Lemoore, CA, which were also designed by Starch Creative.
