Home and Away favourite Georgie Parker is finally back on screens after a seven-week break.
The actress was cast in a play that clashed with filming in Summer Bay, so in March 2023 she shared that she would be absent from the popular Channel 7 show.
Taking to her Instagram on Thursday, she said that her character, Roo Stewart – whom she has played since 2010 – was back on screens after suffering from an accident earlier in the show.

“So whilst Roo was off getting much-needed medical attention in the city, Georgie was in fact doing a play in Sydney written by the brilliant David Williamson, at the @ensembletheatre,” she said.
“But Roo is back on our screens tonight. So tune in @channel7 ❤️.”
Fans took to social media to share their delight at Parker’s return.
“Yay! So glad you are back,” one comment said.
“I’m so happy Roo is back on the show tonight, I have missed Roo so much and the show has been less bright without her sunshine. Welcome back Georgie ❤️😀,” a fan wrote.
On her Instagram stories, Parker shared sweet tributes from her TV co-stars welcoming her back to the series.
“A very big welcome back to my work wife Georgie Parker,” Emily Symons said.
“I have missed standing in the wind with you.”
Symons went on to share a hilarious video of actor Ray Meagher holding up two signs, reading “Before” and “After”.
The first image showed Roo smiling to the camera in the sunlight and the second showed her in the ICU following the Stunning Organics explosion scene.
“We missed you and Roo. Sorry about the Stunning Organics thing,” she wrote.
Other photos shared included the friends getting coffee, taking a selfie with Meagher and smiling in the wind.
The 58-year-old actress spent the months off performing in the play Rhinestone Rex and Miss Monica.
“I’ve been very fortunate that I kind of put it out there – if it’s going to be long term, that I need time out for plays,” she told Yahoo Lifestyle ahead of the temporary exit.
“Channel 7 has always been very generous with letting me do that, and ask for (time off).
“I just get it written into my contract.”
The two-time Gold Logie winner added that, because the show is primarily written around the younger cast members, it was not difficult for scriptwriters to explain her absence.
“It doesn’t break any storylines in half if I take time out to go, so I’m lucky in that way,” she said.
Parker was the second actress to take on the role of Ruth “Roo” Stewart, the daughter of Ray Meagher’s character Alf Stewart.
Before 2010, actress Justine Clarke played the character until she left to pursue other TV shows and her career as a children’s singer.
