(NewsNation) — Sunday marks the end of an era for ‘The Simpsons’ voice star Pamela Hayden, who announced her retirement earlier this week.
Hayden voiced the character of Milhouse Van Houten for 35 years since the show’s launch in 1989. Her final episode will air at 8 a.m. ET Nov. 24 on Fox and is titled “Treehouse of Horror Presents: Simpsons Wicked This Way Comes.”
As the seventh episode of season 36, its synopsis is described online as following “a tattooed man at a mysterious night circus who transports Lisa into three strange stories.”
It’s the 775th episode in the series.
“The time has come for me to hang up my microphone, but how do I say goodbye to The Simpsons? Not easily,” Hayden said in a statement.
“It’s been an honor and a joy to have worked on such a funny, witty, and groundbreaking show, and to give voice to Milhouse (and Jimbo Jones, Rod Flanders, Janey, Malibu Stacy, and many others). I’ll always have a special place in my heart for that blue-haired 10-year-old boy with glasses.”
Milhouse, who first appeared in a Butterfinger commercial voiced by Hayden, was named after former President Richard Milhouse Nixon.
“Pamela gave us tons of laughs with Milhouse, the hapless kid with the biggest nose in Springfield. She made Milhouse hilarious and real, and we will miss her,” said “The Simpsons” creator Matt Groening to the Associated Press.
The AP reported casting for Hayden’s characters is planned.
